Amy Jackson- Friendship

Why is friendship considered the least of the loves? C.S. Lewis writes in The Four Loves, "Friendship arises out of mere companionship when two or more of the companions discover that they have in common some insight of interest or even taste with the others do not share and which, till that moment, each believed to be his own unique treasure (or burden). Lewis discuss' how important friendship is even though we can survive without it. There are things that are shared between lovers that cannot be shared between friends. However, there are also things that are not shared between lovers that only a friend would understand. God created Eve because it is not good for man to be alone. Thus the importance of Eros. One of their jobs was to populate the earth. This leads to more people of each sex, which leads to friendship.
