Christian Work- Doug Savarie
I was reading out of Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost For His Highest today and came across a passage about Christian workers. It talked about the importance of ensuring that God is the focal point in everything that we do. Chambers says, “A great number of Christian workers worship their work. The only concern of Christian workers should be their concentration on God.” This makes me wonder, as I go about my daily life, what am I concentrating on? I think that as a student, our natural priority becomes our schoolwork. While this is a necessary thing to concern oneself with, this should not be the priority. I believe that many Christians claim to “put God first,” but what they really mean is that they will worry about their relationship with the Lord as soon as they take care of all of the other crap that is going on in their lives. The “crap” that I refer to is not exclusive to school work; it could pertain to anything from chores to drug addictions. The point is that one does not have to be perfect before entering the presence of the Lord, but rather, one should enter the presence of the Lord and then allow themselves to be transformed through that relationship.
