God's Revelation- Doug Savarie
In the book of Revelation, John, speaking of Jesus writes, “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last” (1:17). Oswald Chambers quotes this passage and says, “There are times when God cannot reveal Himself in any other way than in His majesty, and it is the awesomeness of the vision which brings you to the delight of despair.” My question arising from these quotes is: in what other ways than majesty does God reveal himself to His people? Sure, he can reveal himself in scripture and his will is revealed through prayer and communication, but aren’t these things all encompassed in majesty. I believe that anytime that God reveals something to a person, it has some element of majesty inherently present in it; furthermore, I think that falling at the feet of the Lord is the only appropriate way to respond in the presence of the Lord given his love for us, and the price he paid for humanity.
