Perelandra- Elissa Wilcox
On page 24 of Perelandra Ransom and Lewis are having a conversation about whether or not Ransom is happy about his upcoming journey to Perelandra. The response that Ransom gives Lewis is interesting. He says that he accepts that the will be safely deposited on Perelandra, however he is still worried about the trip. Often the fear of what could happen holds people back because although rationally they believe something, feeling that something is true is another matter completely. Even if you think that something is true, it is very likely that your rational will fail you and emotions will take over. I love that even though Ransom's feeling are not fully sold on the idea he is still willing to go on this great adventure. He says, "I think I feel as a man who believes in the future life feels when he is taken out to face a firing party. Perhaps it's good practice" (24). Ransom feels that even though he knows he will be ok, it is still nerve racking to be put in the situation of trust that he is in.
