Eric Morgan- Fact though it became
“To be truly Christian we must both assent to the historical fact and also receive the myth (fact though it has become) with the same imaginative embrace which we accord to all myths. The one is hardly more necessary than the other.”(Lewis 63-67) This excerpt from the book “Myth Became Fact” was a great way to depict myth that I have never seen before. I love the part in this quote where is says “fact though it has become.” This reminded me directly to the story in the Gospels where Jesus came back to life after being crucified. First off because it is fact, if you are a Christian, meaning it did happened and there are at least fours sources, the four Gospels, that prove its validity. And it has become because after Jesus conquered death he became alive ascended to the father and sent his spirit for all who believe in the facts. He is alive today and has essentially became into this world and is alive and working in the world today all around. This shows the complete mythology of the story of Jesus and its impact in today’s society. I just want to say again that I love this new way of viewing the Gospels and through myth I know I will see them in a different light.
