Kelsey Garegnani - severe mercy

In the book Severe Mercy, the author corresponds with his friend CS Lewis.  At one point they deal with the idea of grieving and what it means and how to do it well.  The author, when his wife dies identifies with Lewis and his own wife’s death.  I thought it was interesting how for the years after her death he found joy in reliving her.  He went through all his memories with her and all her stuff.  While her memory upset him, it was remembering her that gave him the most joy.  I found this similar to what we talked about in class about the memory being the point of the experience.  While the experience is good, there is no reflection as there is in memory.   Its almost like he finds more pleasure in her memory because he learned and saw even more.
