I think we have been able to explore the concept of play with this class on Lewis this past semester. We have been able to enjoy food and drink, movie, book, and music with each other which is all sorts of methods of entertainment. I believe Lewis was an advocate of play and I am so excited to think that we lived it this semester. If Lewis were to see the class style and methods for our learning, I believe he would have been very solemn, but highly satisfied in the decisions made in how to run the class.
I use the concept of play loosely and mostly in regards to asking one's own questions and challenging one another to seek deeper meanings and new understandings of the concepts and characters Lewis introduces in his books. The concept of play also allows one's imagination to wander, which is a key part of this class I think. Being able to tap into ym own "creative genius" allowed me freedom to experience Lewis on my own level, and not just from a philosopher's view. To discover the mysteries of Lewis from one's own fantasy land creates more possibilities than one can ever imagine.
