Adoring v. True Love - Lindsay Conrad

In the final book we come to a battle with the need to be loved instead of adored. I have been in this conversation with friends more than once and think it applies to the way we live our lives. More than once I have been placed on a separate playing field because of my faith. I have been placed on a "perfect pedestal" which has severely impaired the perceptions of me and the actions I take. Relationships that have begun has become distorted and untrue based on the misperception of my faith and works.
In the same way there is a struggle in Till We Have Faces. I can only imagine what it must be like to be placed in such high esteem. We are all only human and to be given the power of God or a god that we so openly admit to not having leaves us and the rest of the world angry and bitter because we failed the high expectations.
I feel as though this relates the the battle Jesus fought with those who began to follow him. The people he saved were saved through faith in the Son of the Lord. Those who couldn't believe could not bask int he glory, and those who thought he was ONLY a miracle worker were sorely mistaken. Is it true in Christianity today that we still put Jesus ina place that makes him unattainable? Is the fact that he was fully human as he was fully God something we cannot accept? Does that prevent us from the true love, belief, and adoration He deserves?
