Out Of The Silent Planet- Emily Williamson

In Out Of The Silent Planet, we meet Dr. Elwin Ransom, a professor at the University of Cambridge who travels into space, specifically to the planet Malacandra. Ransom discovers much about the strange planet, including the landscape, water supply, and the significantly less gravitational pull than on Earth.

In Chapter 11 of the book, Ransom comes to a realization that he has been discovering much about this island, but hasn't had the time to just sit and take it all in. This made me wonder how much we are guilt of this very concept of rest. Living at the height of a technological age, we don't always get to or want to appreciate the silence in the world around us. I think it is important to do as Ransom ponders and take some time to spend in silence, enjoy the creation of the world around us, and just rest.
