Mud pies

“We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased”
This quote is my favorite quote by C.S Lewis. It came from his book The Weight of Glory and in this first chapter he is talking about human nature and how are living for empty and lifeless dreams that will leave us wanting more. I am a young life leader at Warwick High School and I see this all the time. These high school girls are doing everything they can to become more popular even if that means giving up their morals. It is sad and makes me sick what they will do to win the approval of those around them. I wish they would see what they are missing out on with a relationship with Christ. That is what we try and show them through this relational ministry. I have been doing the Lords work at this school for the last three years and it has been anything but easy. The Lord has been present but it has been hard to see fruit of our labor. Just recently the Lord has been blessing our ministry so much at Warwick High School. We have girls signed up for camp, it has been two years since we have taken any girls at all. Camp is a time for them to get away from their normal lives and to hear about what Christ did for them while they spend their days outside playing games and doing different activities. It is guaranteed to be the best week of their lives because it has the potential to change their lives forever!
